My story: I have been working in the Oregon forests for over 40 years and carving sticks for the past 18 years. After hand-selecting sticks from trees from late April to early July, each stick gets its bark hand-peeled off. Then the sticks get the ends capped-off and sits for seasoning for 2 weeks to 1 year. Seasoning means it is stored in my shop to dry out which ensures a strong stick. Each stick is capped on both ends to prevent cracking.
